How do I keep my car in good shape?

Hey Scotty,

I have a 2018 Honda Civic EX, 2.0L engine, CVT and just hit 60k miles.

Nothing is wrong with my car, but I want to know how to keep it in great condition for years to come. I leased the car new back in 2018 and have recently decided to keep it.

Before watching your videos, I only got oil changes on my car. Besides that, I replaced the battery because it kept dying on me about a year ago.

Since watching your videos, I've learned that you need to do more than just change the oil to keep your car in good shape. I recently got the transmission oil changed (had no idea I needed to change it before watching your videos). I recently saw a video where you recommended getting the valves adjusted every 60,000 miles for Hondas.

So, I wanted to know specifically for my car--what should I do to keep my car in great condition for years to come? Asked another way--do you have a suggestion for the types of car maintenance I should get now at 60k miles and as I increase my mileage up until... about 300k miles?

P.S. thank you for your videos. I enjoy learning about cars, always get a good laugh in, and appreciate your content.

I’d recommend you stick to the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual.

That should have you well covered for most preventative maintenance.

Your car is still relatively new for any big ticket items (other than CVT fluid).

Thanks, about to review the Driver's Manual Now

No worries, all the best.

Yup, refer to the owner's manual.

And have it inspected by a mechanic once in a while. Or learn to do it yourself.

no matter what the dealer says,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, wash it and WAX it.

WAX it! the primer protects the metal. the paint protects the primer, the clear coat protects the paint, and [ this is important ] the wax protects the clear coat!

Otherwise you be one of the many [ especially in warmer climates ] that has a vehicle with nice shiny sides and a faded, crummy looking hood, roof, and trunk.

what protects the wax?
