Should I buy this Ford Focus

Hello!
I’m making this post after seeing the 2002 Focus short on YT. I wanted to ask about a 2006 Ford focus ZX4 listed at a dealership near me. It looks good (no accidents, 64k miles, $6k, FWD, 23mpg city, 4cyl) and is in the range of time I’m comfortable buying a car (2005-2020).

My main concern is that it feels to good to be true. Lowish miles, low price, it feels like there’s gotta be something catastrophic about this car to warrant the price like a transmission that’ll self destruct after 4 seconds. It seems like it’d be a decent first car but I wanted to run it by half a dozen car people before I even considered reaching that out.

What issues should expect from its age? Are they easy to fix myself or will she be stuck in a shop after every speed bump? Will she cost more to fix than to buy if something major pops up?

thank you for reading or replying!

Actually that sounds like a lot of money for a 19-year-old Focus. The mileage is suspiciously low for its age and would need to be verified. You can expect rubber parts to be deteriorating and of course there could be any number of mechanical problems. Those cars are known to develop electrical, engine, and transmission problems.

How do you know it has no accidents? Most dealerships that would sell a car that old are bottom-feeding used car dealers. They probably paid $1500 for it at auction and don't know anything about its history, just shined it up and put a $6000 price sticker on it.

A thorough inspection by a good mechanic before purchase is a necessity.

That mileage is suspicious for a 19 year old car. Regardless, the price is too high, that Focus isn't worth that much...
