[Solved] Trac, VSC, ABS, brake lights on dash

I just recently got a Lexus ES 300 2003 from my grandfather, the vehicle has 87,000 miles, it runs good but there are a few lights on the dash, Trac off, VSC, ABS and brake light are all illuminated. I have taken it to lexus dealership and they hooked it up to their reader but no codes were given, they were not much of help. I seen on youtube that someone posted a video on how to rest the trac off and vsc light by using a paper clip in the obd connector under the dash into pin 4 and 14 but no luck there. Just wanted to see if I could get some help on here. Thanks.

I don't know. It sounds to me like the deal is your idiots. If those lights are on there's a reason behind it. Any good mechanic with a fancy scan tool can analyze it and see what's going on. For example, even a minor problem that makes your check engine light come on will often turn the track systems and stuff off and make those lights come on because that's the software design of the vehicle. If it thinks there's a problem in the vehicle it automatically turns that track and ABS off. So try to find a guy like me to test it out. There has to be a reason behind it

@scottykilmer okay I took my lexus back to Lexus dealership, they did more diagnostic testing, the mechanic said I needed a “Skid Control ECU” they said they couldn’t order it since they don’t make them anymore and they couldn’t get me a part number. When I look on google for it it just brings up regular ecu’s is that the same thing as a skid control ecu? Again this is for my 2003 Lexus Es300. The car runs fine and all but the light being on just drive me crazy. Is this even worth fixing?

Scotty doesn't usually revisit topics he has already answered.

Take it to a good independent mechanic instead. The dealer is generally the worst option for anything but warranty or recall repairs.

Another member here recently had a dealer tell him he needed a new engine. When he took his vehicle to an independent shop it turned out to be a sensor problem:

Having said all this, that vehicle is more than 20 years old and it would not be a surprise to find major electrical system failures. However you need a good mechanic that will do thorough diagnostics to find out what's actually going on.
