Scotty,. My neighbor' sister is selling a 2003 Lexus GX 470, which she claims has been garage kept. She says that she just replaced the timing belt, and spent $900 on new tires. My wife and I test drove it it it ran fine. It looks almost prestige. She is asking $3,700. Would you buy it? Does that sound reasonable?  She's selling it because she just purchased a new 2020 GX 460.

You should get more info on it like mileage, options to compare with Kelley blue book values. The price they ask seems to be a trade-in value. Condition of the interior is also a concern as you did not indicate that.  Only negative feature is that it is not that good on MPG but when your in that class..it is assumed you can afford such minute details as MPG. Other thing that is not popular with this vehicle is the refrigerator rear door which went bye bye to the hatch back style we have today. it does have unique third row seating which flips to the side but does covers the rear quarter windows when so. But the price...seems good...I probably venture a guess you could buy it and drive it a year and still make your investment back...maybe even more...

The price seems good. If it really does have new tires, new timing belt, etc, then go ahead they are excellent. It seems likely that its just a neighbor who loved a Lexus, bought a new one, and is trying to get rid of the older one. Have a mechanic that you trust do a check on it. It shouldn't take more than an hour or $100 for him to give you a detailed inspection of the vehicle. If everything checks out, especially if the car is lower miles, then snatch it up that's a good deal.
