Hey Scotty,

I am a 64 year old that's been wrenching since I was about 8. Dad was an independent trucker and as soon as I could reach over the truck frame, I was helping. I truly enjoy your channel, not just for the content but for the sarcastic comedy aimed at the adversaries.

Anyway, I bought a very clean 2003 Mazda Tribute in 2018 with 71K miles for $5600. It now has 96K and has been trouble free except for the stupid coolant "spider" with 4 short hoses in front of the engine. Owned by an older fellow that passed, it spent most of it's life in a garage. I searched for videos on this vehicle from you but didn't see anything that jumped out at me. Can you point me to any reviews on the Tribute or it's cousin the Escape? Thanks for all you do 🙂 /p>

Those were actually half decent. If you can get them cheap they can fit the bill.

What was wrong with the coolant “spider”?

I have a friend that has a first generation Tribute. It seemed to work perfectly fine.  The only two problems he had with it were the coolant reservoir was leaking. And the second was a catalytic converter that needed to be changed.

I agree. Mine has been trouble free except for the small coolant hose.
