Scotty, I own a 05 chrysler 300 limited with a 3.5l engine. I have 204k miles on it and it runs like a dream still. I want to get at least another 100k out of it. I purchased the car 3 years ago and had 160k on it. Not sure what maintenance was done to it prior. I replaced the entire front end when I bought it just so I knew it wouldn't fall apart on me. Only issue it has is the dampeners are junk for my car . But anyways. What should I do with my transmission fluid? Leave it? Change it? Check the quality and then possibly change it? If I don't change it could I still change the filter? It shift smooth and has no jerks or hesitation. 90% of the miles I put on it are from the highway. What should I do? Thank you for your time.
I would leave it. If it hasn't been changed yet, you risk making the transmission slipping after you replace the fluid.
On a 300 at that age, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
What about using an additive like lucas?
If it shifts smooth, leave it. If it starts to slip, you can try it.
You never add Lucas as preventative maintenance! Only as a last resort if the performance of the transmission deteriorates greatly. If your transmission is smooth, adding Lucas can actually cause it to slip.
The others said above what to do with the tranny fluid
What I have to say is good luck! Getting 300k out of a 300 seems unrealistic but you are very very close with highway miles to a quarter million miles. If you get to that inform us again gl with the 300.
"It shift smooth and has no jerks or hesitation. 90% of the miles I put on it are from the highway. What should I do?"
Lucky you, continue driving it till the wheels fall off
What should you do? You should pray, because it will take a miracle to make it last that long.
don't change it
I wish you good luck too!
