Hi Scotty I bought a 2003 Toyota Camry LE V6 1MZFE with 103,000 miles it has the U151E 5 speed automatic transmission and sometimes it shifts hard between the 2-3 shift and I'm not sure if the transmission fluid/filter has ever been changed its still bright red do you think it would be ok to change the filter and put new Toyota fluid or do you think it might be the 2-3 shift solenoid it usually happens at lower speeds if i step on the gas and have a faster acceleration it doesn't do it.

Please help

Change the fluid+filter. I don't think the solenoid will help. You might just have to live with it.

You should drain and fill it, as well as replace the filter. Just whatever you do, don't flush the system.

The first thing I would want to know is if there are any codes in tranny module.

If it’s code free, I would do a full fluid exchange with a new filter and replace with

synthetic fluid.

I don't have any transmission codes.

Then proceed with the fluid exchange and filter......

I did just find out that my voltage regulator is going out on my alternator would that cause the transmission to shift hard

change the alternator and find out

To that I’m aware, just erratic readings on your gauges.
