I’m looking at a 2004 Acura RL W/ Navigation. It’s priced at $6,500 with 84k miles on it and is being sold by a dealer. Is this a good deal?
First see if the mileage is legit. Can't tell you how many times I came across rolled back mileage cars.
It will need the major timing belt service done if it wasn't done already.
It's an RL with extra electronics, check them all if they work. Once they break, it's not going to be cheap to fix.
2004 was the era of the WORST transmissions honda ever had.
I would pass on this.
Way too expensive, then again, because it’s with a dealer.
Look at individual sellers if you’re trying to get a good deal.
No matter which car you buy, get it checked by an honest mechanic before you buy it.
The miles are good, but it's 16 years old and not a high demand vehicle.
If you really like it, make a low offer and see what happens.
Who knows? Maybe the dealer is tired of having it on their lot.
But as the Moderator mentions, have an independent mechanic check it out first.
Look for videos on how to check a used car for problems too.
Yeah, the transmission of those cars are problematic. Avoid the car.
Also, this is a Luxury car which means parts/labor are way more expensive that you think. Overall, in my opinion, it is not a good idea to buy it.
