Okay so I bought a used 2004Cadillac CTS Base 3.6 from a private party like 2 months ago. The other night I was driving home and the check engine light started flashing every time I accelerated, not to mention all balls being gone. Basically it would sputter at first then kind of jerk and take off. I had a friend run the OBD2 scanner on it the codes I was given from it is P2098, P0300 Cylinder 1,3, and 5 misfire detected. I was thinking maybe spark plugs or Coils. Am I on the right track? or am I way off? Understanding how cars work is kind of a bit of a foreign language for me but I am trying to learn.
What is the mileage?

It could be plugs. I would start there and see how much carbon buildup they have when you pull them out.
Do you know if you are running the original plugs/coils or when they were last replaced?

That's ok. I still think you are doing right by starting there. You may find out that the plugs just need swapping out. Hopefully that's all it is. But if it all looks ok and issues persist, please let us know so we can continue to help. That is what we are here for. 🙂
