Ive got a 2004 ford expedition that rides really rough over bumps but is perfectly fine on the highway. There is no play when i shake the front wheels. No rip boots on the upper and lower ball joints. Could this be a strut mount? What's the best way to diagnose a strut mount?
Thanks
I’d start by looking at your tyres. Are they in good shape? Are they correctly inflated?
Next, I’d look at your shocks & struts to check for leaks or signs of wear.
In my experience, strut mounts (rubber) usually knock or clunk when they are worn. You can inspect them by checking for rotten/cracked rubber.
Are you still on the factory suspension setup? If yes, I’d get all the shocks & struts professionally tested.
Scotty has a video on strut mounts -
Thanks for the help will look into it.
