My 2004 Honda Pilot (116k) will crank and not start occasionally. It seems it happens when the car was just running and/or when it's hot outside. When I know it will start, the drive gear like will flash on and off and it will start just fine. When the car won't start, the drive gear light never flashes and it cranks without starting. What's weird is that the column shifter also locks up when it doesn't want to start.
