Hi Scotty,
Had transfer case and front drive shaft replaced on a 2004 Lexus gx 470. (220K + miles )
Now, sometimes, when braking on a downhill only, the transmission disengages from drive and self shifts to neutral. To re-engage the transmission, I have to put the 4 wheel drive shifter to Neutral, to Low, than back to the HIGH position. (sometimes a grinding sound is heard)
I haven't done a scan yet, but have read that something has to be "flashed" in the computer, perhaps, to reset it. The transmission guy was befuddled and couldn't figure it out.
Any suggestions?

You can try that but more often it's a failure of the transmission if you change transfer case a lot of times they do damage taking the old transmission on and off jiggling and hammering them in place to get them to slide they're very tight clearances. Have an actual Lexus Toyota man check it out
