Hi Scotty,
I used a scan tool on my 03 sequoia and got a C1203, C1223, and C1247 code. The codes all point to the yaw sensor being replaced which is an issue the truck had and is well known. The previous owner of the truck told me that the VSC and track off lights would go show up randomly so I knew I had to tackle this issue. There was a recall on this issue but it's been too long so I can't take it in.
My question is... Do i have to replace the unit or can I just recalibrate it? I found some videos online of how to do it.
Also, if I do have to replace it, where do you suggest I get the part? Should it be new or used?
Try to recalibrate it first and if it doesn't fix the issue I would recommend only getting this part from the dealer or a junk yard. Make sure you calibrate it again after install.
@cjbman
buying one from a dealer is 10x the price than buying used. Im afraid that if I buy a used, I'll get another faulty one. Or is that not how it works?
If you can find one in a junk yard it might be your best bet. It isn't that common for these to go bad and you likely will save yourself at least for a while. Worst case you buy a new one from the dealer down the road if it happens again.
