I have a 2004 Mercury Sable with 91,700 miles and it’s FWD. Sometimes when I go to start my car it makes a weird noise and won’t start. I have to keep trying to start the car to get it to start. What needs to be fixed on it.
More information needed. When is the last time that fuel filter and air filter were changed? Spark plugs? Is fuel pressure up to specification? Battery and alternator OK? Any codes? Live data showing anything suspicious? Can you provide a video of the weird noise and upload to youtube or a file sharing site and post the link here?
I only have a code for the catalyst system( P0420) and everything else I have no idea when they were replaced. I have had the car for like about 4 months now and it’s my first car so. I can email the video to you with my email being [personal info redacted]

As has already been explained, upload your video to an appropriate video or file sharing site and post the link here. If you have no idea how that car has been maintained you have to assume it has not been done and start taking care of those items.
I did already replace the starter because people I know told me too but the keeps happening but not nearly as much as it usually does.
@chucktobias Hey did you ever get an answer to this question? I'm having the same sound once every couple of weeks or so. I'm thinking it's the starter but I'm not sure.
