Well, they weren't the best cars in the world but for 900 bucks what the heck it could be worth it if you can maintain it.
Those weren't great cars and it is probably on it's last legs. But then again, it is hard to go wrong at $900.00. I definitely wouldn't pay much more than that.
If it runs and drives and shifts fine by all means it could be worth the money. Don't expect it to last though... $900 isn't much.
Yes, only if a mechanic checks it out, before purchase. If it needs any engine/transmission work at all or is rusted, walk.
Ideally, the only thing that should be wrong with it is cosmetic/body work damage for $900.

As a knock around car, sure. But as a daily driver, no way. When it breaks it won't be worth fixing.
$900 is nothing for a car, go ahead and get it as a knock-around car, but don't put any serious money into it.
