Hi Scotty, what you think about a 2004 toyota 4runner v8 with 84k miles on it? Any big common problems?
Yesterday I took it to my trusted mechanic and it had some problems, none very serious apart from the fact that it was leaning to the left, it was not a problem of the shocks or the suspension but it was weird. Also when they plugged in the scanner the mechanic said it was weird because everything seemed too clean, and one caliper was bad and no error code came up. And he couldn't get the miles to check with the scanner. It looked like it had more miles on it than the odometer read....
I finally decided not to buy it and look for a better option, it didn't give me a good impression.
Never be afraid to walk away from a vehicle. Well done.
Check out this video. It is not for the V8 but generally the issues are very similar.
Nothing wrong with them, aside from them being big gas hogs. The V6s are a little better in economy but they’re still thirsty. If you’re ok with the gas mileage with the V8, then go ahead.
As with all used cars, have it checked out by a good mechanic before purchase.
