2004 Toyota Avalon Overheating

Hello Scotty,

I have a 2004 Toyota Avalon with 130k miles that over heats sometimes during idle at drive through with the AC on. I only caught it doing this twice. Once in June and August on a 35 degree celcius day. I watch the temperature like a hawk.

I had the coolant flushed in April. The coolant is a little low in the reservoir. I should mention that the car had a front end crash and was rebuilt before I bought it.

Thanks,

Sean

Check the fans that sit right behind your radiator. If those go out, when you are at idle the heat builds up up in your engine bay. You don't notice it while moving because of all of the airflow keeps things cool. On a hot day with the A/C on and at idle, those fans should be running.
