Hey Scotty I have a 2005 f150 lariat with 185k miles. Replaced trans fluid twice since I bought it at 139k miles and replaced transfer case fluid front diff fluid 4wd actuators and replaced the entire rear 3 years ago. If the trans goes which they’re known for is it worth replacing? Has the 5.4 and already tackled the spark plugs thank god 😂

btw repairpal puts the replacement estimate at $3743 to $4023

There’s a shop near me precision transmission that is one of the best around and they said $2000

you're lucky to be close to them

Have you heard of them by any chance?

I watch their Youtube channel

Yeah they’re great they rebuild my rear for $750 I got all the parts for $400 so it worked out well.

the transmissions I would go out on those things but I've had many customers by the Ford factory man transmissions and if they want 160 70 80,000 MI the rebuilt transmissions from the factory can go that far again it's worth it if the vehicles in decent shape

Thank you yeah it’s in great shape interior is like brand new. I figure I can replace the trans every year and that’s cheaper than buying a new lariat 😂

If you like the truck, go for it. Sounds like you know a good rebuilder so that would be the route I would go. $2000 for a rebuilt transmission is a steal.

Yeah they’re good they’re out of NJ they did my rear diff rebuild for 750 I supplied the parts. My aunt owns machenry auto which supplies all the dealers with Ford parts in NJ so I got the entire rebuild kit for $400

Why don't you consider getting a manual transmission?  It would cost less to make the conversion and you'd never have to worry about the trans again - ever!
