Do you think Hyundai/Kia and Mitsubishi’s quality control is about equal?

Nowadays

Kia and Hyundai reliability is better then Mitsubishi.

if you’d ask the same question in 2009 I’d probably tell you the opposite.

Hyundai Group vs Renault group basically

Nissan/Mitubishi makes somewhat similar cars when it comes to how long they last compared to Hyundai but Hyundai has a lot lower quality nowadays, since around 2010 or so its been like this imo.

how mitsubishi cars are more tinny but don't have all the unexpected issues hyundai has because of lousy build quality, i'd prefer the Hyundai but knowing that anything could go wrong.

Group Renault / “Alliance” is actually much higher quality then Mitsubishi (because they haven’t fully merged their lineups yet)

On cars like the Nissan Qashqai you can say it’s practically a Renault Koleos but it’s a completely different design to the Mitsubishi Outlander.

Mitsubishi makes their engines and transmissions on their own.

On the subject of modern Renault quality;
Buying a euro spec Renault is often a safe bet. Both their diesels and new petrols (even the 0.9L) last upwards of 180,000 miles and their Dual Clutch autos are dependable well built units (It’s either a “BMW StepTronic” or a “Volvo MPS6” depending on the exact model) (The X-Tronic they put on cheapest cars are bad, but they don’t offer them on diesels - what people actually use around here if they plan on driving a lot)

Personally, the most reliable car I’ve had in my life is a 1.5L turbo diesel Renault Fluence Privilege (a “budget oriented executive saloon”) drove like new after 180,000 miles with 0 faults.

@dan

I go to Turkey and I see lots of Renault Fluence Renult Clio Fiat Egea and Renault Symbols

Yes they’re awesome tiny little cars. 🙂

Regarding modern-day Hyundai/Kia vs. Mitsubishi, from having driven vehicles from both automakers I’ve found the Hyundai/Kia has better quality control (relative to the other).  If you twisted my arm and I was to buy a vehicle between these two, I’d go for the Hyundai/Kia.

Mitsubishi makes better quality vehicles. Remember, you are still looking at Japanese quality vs. Korean.

Having owned a few Mitsu's myself, I've never had an issue out of them. They are not popular here in the States though so parts and dealerships are harder to come by as opposed to the Hyundai/Kia dealers that are on every street corner like McDonald's.
