Hi Scotty, I have an issue that stumped my mechanic. Maybe you have an idea. My Cherokee is running rough from start up. hesitates when hitting the gas and also stutters. Idle is really rough and wants to stall.Its hard to gain any speed. It has multiple codes coming up. Shows cylinders 2,4,6,8 all misfire. coil packs checked, sparks plugs checked fuel pressure tested and a compression test done. Mechanic said he disconnected cylinder 1 and it (didnt) show a misfire, that confused him. I have no clue what to do next. Could it be an ECU/PCM issue. Any opion will be appreciated.
These engines are famous for bad hydraulic roller lifters. Take off a valve cover, turn the engine over and watch the rockers moving. If they aren't all the same, the lifters have failed and are now grinding down your camshaft. You will need to pull the heads and replace the cam and all lifters.
