2005 Highlander UV joint

Hi Scotty, I'm in Maine, and have a 2005 Toyota Highlander Base AWD with 254,000 miles - I've put about 40,000 miles on it myself. It's been pretty reliable for the past 3.5 years since I've owned it. Have been getting a vibration below the floorboard for the last 1000 miles or so.  My mechanic estimated it may cost $1200-1500 to fix. Is it necessary to replace the entire shaft to replace the UV joint(s) in this model?  Also may need to replace the drive belt soon, and possibly a front wheel bearing. Is it time to replace this car? I might be able to replace the UV joint(s) myself, don't think I'm up to replacing the drive belt unless there's an easier way to do it than what I've seen. Thanks.

You must either mean U joints or CV joints.  There is no such thing as a UV joint.  UV stands for ultraviolet.
