- What is the best roadside jack for my pickup? Preferably something not to bulky
usually the scissor jack that comes with the vehicle is pretty handy.
Unless it's one of those plastic ones they've been putting out 😡
@mmj seriously, plastic? How cheap are car companies going to get?
For emergency use, the scissor jacks seems to work great. I’ve used it in a pinch. And I think it is the least maintenance.
A bottle jacks might also be an option. I’ve never used one, but I am eyeing one if I ever do go buy another Jack.
Floor jack is just way to damn big and heavy to haul around. It’s great at home or for work, but space is precious in a car.
I carry a 4 ton bottle jack in addition to the scissor. It's nice that you can lower it quickly. But the problem with bottle jacks is that they're too tall. If you're trying to lift by some part that's too close to the ground, it won't fit underneath. Scissor jacks slide nicely underneath almost anything. Especially if you sink yourself in some mud or sand.
