While driving to school in my dads 2004 Ram 1500 (5.7L Hemi, Automatic, 4x4) as exiting the interstate, steering locked up and truck died. Attempted to start multiple times but would only crank. Electronic throttle control (ETC) light appeared. When put into run mode the steering worked fine, and a few days later it seems to work fine while started and the truck starts now, but dies at idle. Any ideas? 204K on the Odo.

Load test your battery and alternator. Make sure your 21-year-old battery cables and clamps are not corroded.
