Hey scotty what do you think of dodge removing the v8 for the 2025 model year. This is got to be the stupidest decision to remove the v8 and replace it with smaller v6 engines with turbos.
I predict by the end of the 2020's there will be no half ton pickups with V8 engines. It's just the way the tide has been going. It's possible Trump might slow down the trend. Toyota already has a head start on everyone.
Blame increasingly stupid insane ridiculous stringent government regulations that are becoming difficult or impossible to meet with V8 engines.
The trend toward turbo V6s has been ongoing for a while. Almost nobody uses consumer-grade trucks to haul stuff in the bed itself anymore. My old Ranger has a 6-foot box, crew cab short-beds have 5.5' beds. The going thing for a while is to hook up trucks to trailers, that's why new ones claim they can haul 14,000 pounds in trailer form. The old days of an extended cab, 6' bed, or a single cab 8' bed are long gone. I only see fleet vehicles with single cab 8' bed trucks. Menards fleet trucks come to mind right away. You allegedly don't need V8s in consumer grade trucks for most applications anymore. Most people drive trucks because it's the new "cool factor", the insides are all electronics, etc. and their "new" primary purpose is a glorifed commuter car.
