Sure, why not. Those cars were basically in the same league as the Sunfire. They weren't great, but they weren't horrible either. They aren't cars that you would pay very mich for but $1,500 isn't very much. You would want to check out the transmission as that was the weak link on those cars. If the transmission checks out then it is probably worth $1,500.00.
be carefull of the intake manifolds on those. my 2001 taurus, pretty much the same, leaked coolant into the engine and blew the head gasket. Have the cooling system pressure tested and replace the upper and lower radiator hoses.
The GM 3.4 engines had the same issue.
