So I am looking at this Toyota Celica Convertible in my neighborhood. It has 210,000 miles on it and is the model they made between 1994-1999. It has a 2.2-liter engine in it. Is this one of the Celica's I should avoid? I am just a college student that wants a cool car to drive around for a few years, I am not a car expert, and my neighbor is only asking $2500. Are there any things I should lookout for?
- Jump pm that car. That is a steal of a deal. That 2.2 engine is the 5S-FE that was used in the Camry which is a bulletproof engine.
Yeah and it's a manual, so I assume it's even more bulletproof!
The Celica you should avoid is the next generation after that, where Yamaha had designed part of the engine.
I personally think it's too old to be spending $2500 for it, but it is a great car that will last probably another 50-100k hopefully. If the condition is great, then maybe it's worth buying.
If it is in good shape $2,500.00 is nothing for a car these days.
