My Grandson decided while I was in town he would wash and charge my battery. Well the washing went alright but charging my 6 month old battery didn't go so well. He put the cables on wrong not once but several times or until it started smoking. I'm sure he cost me a battery but when I start the truck all my gauges aren't working. I started pulling fuses but I was told that's not the problem. Can someone tell me what to check and where. I can't afford to tow it somewhere.
I'd still check the IGN E and the IPC fuses in the underhood fuse box.

You fried stuff, I'm surprised it even started. Those gauges are pretty much all driven by computer.

Check for burned out electronics throughout the vehicle. (This is why using a jump starter pack, which has reverse polarity protection, is safer than jumper cables.)
