I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra 4wd, 4.7lt engine, 122K miles.
The 4wd button (4hi) blinks when I push the button. The 4wd indicator doesn't come on on the dash. The 4wd system isn't engaging as I drove around the block in the snow.
I probably haven't tried to engage the 4wd since 2017, our last big snow storm here.
Googling this problem, it seems like it's either wiring/connection problems or the 4wd actuator.
Scotty, is this an easy fix or something I should take to a mechanic. If I need to take to a mechanic, any rough ideas how much a repair like this would cost?
Thank you,

the electric actuator is stuck , being in Oregon its most likely rusty from the damp or bad electrical connections you can remove the motor check the electrical connections and try to clean and lube this motor drive assembly there are some YouTube videos on doing this that go into some detail
I have done this to my 06 tacoma 4wd it works smoother
@RandyinAZ
Thanks for the feedback.
The owner's manual should list some conditions under which the 4WD won't engage, so have a look at those first.
well you need a deal a level scan tool like I have as a professional mechanic because when the light flashes it means there's computer codes stored and you need the ability to analyze and test those systems which only a pro mechanic will have
