Hey Scotty and everyone, I am looking to purchase a daily driver for a new job where I will be driving 40 miles one way. Budget is no more than $10k and I have been looking at Honda accords and toyota camrys but I am open to other suggestions like Lexus but dont think I'll find one cheap enough.
I already have a luxury car but don't want to put the miles on it. I would appreciate everyone's opinions and why. It can be high mileage, just need it to last and have low repair costs.
Thanks guys.
If your fine with a compact car I'd recommend the 2014-2016 Toyota Corolla. It gets up to 42mpg EPA highway and is a better car overall than the previous generations.
I'd avoid some years of the Camry and Accord check those out in the used car buying guide in the FAQ section.
If you want something larger, there is the Toyota Avalon which is a very premium car but you would take bit of a it on gas mileage, 29mpg EPA highway for 2011, which actually isn't bad for a large car.
Thanks you, I appreciate you answering my question. While I have looked at the corolla, I do need something a little bit bigger so I will look at the Avalon but was hoping to get the mpg around 30 or better. That is why I was looking at the honda accord sports and camrys.
You have a favorite year of accord or maybe civic too, but it's a bit small as well.
Thank you.
Yup, stick to an Accord or a Camry for your specific requirements. They have proven reliability & known trouble years, which you can avoid.
As with any used car, have a reputed mechanic inspect it thoroughly, before you buy it.
whatever you get, have a mechanic you trust, check it out before you buy it then,
change the oil
change the coolant
change the transmission fluid.
put in a new battery and thermostat.
I do this whenever I buy a used car as it gives me a starting point on my normal maintenance. After all, you don't know what the previous owner did.
Oh, and check the engine air filter too.
Thanks guys, what would be too many miles say on a 2010-2012 camry or accord?
I'll stay away from the 07-09 per the buying guide.
I'd look at the 2007-2009 Camry with the V6 engine, 2010-2011 Camry 4 cylinder, or the Accord 4 cylinder from 2011-2012
The biggest complaint with the Accord is uncomfortable seats so pay attention to that.
No more than 100-120k, have a mechanic check it out for sure
Thanks, did find a 2017 camry local to me with 94k miles, 4 cyl. auto for asking of $10k. Ran reports on it, everything comes back clean, what do you guys think? It is silver with tan interior.
Thanks.
you might get more responses if you make this a new question btw
