Hello fro Ottawa Ont. Scotty,
my name is Moe and I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla with 225k km no rust and runs like a clock. I do my own maintenance since my mechanic retired.
I am planning to replace the front struts. I am leaning towards the KYB struts but are they as good as the KYB from Japan? I have used the KYB from Japan on my old Toyota four runner Diesel with right hand drive with 356k km andwork great in the African country side.
Thanks

KYB may have multiple locations for manufacturing and or source out to 3rd party companies, but ultimately will have processes in place to perform quality checks like any other company that makes and sells products.  So, in that aspect, you should be fine as KYB is a reputable brand.  If you are concerned, however, of long term reliability and durability, then spend the few extra bucks and get the struts from their mid tier or better model series.  These tend to have additional quality checks and parts in their assembly to help the part last longer.  They also tend to carry longer warranty for defect too.
