I found a 2006 toyota highlander for sale for a good price, it has the 2.4l 4 cylinder engine i’m aware that the 2az-fe engine has the oil consumption issues. But how can I know if the engine was fixed or not by the dealer, i’m going off to college the last thing i need to worry about is an engine that will burn too much oil where I have to constantly check it or else the engine will be ruined.

Well you can get the VIN number and call Toyota. They should be able to look up if it was fixed or not. And basically all you got to do is pull out the spark plugs. If they covered in carbon that's burned oil and it's burning oil
