2006 Honda CRV, tapping sound engine

Hello,

I have a 2006 Honda CRV four-cylinder with 120,000 miles on it.

When starting the car, I hear, tapping sound in the engine sort of like lifters.

Quiets down after a few minutes, but it doesn’t seem to completely go away.

Should I be concerned? Starts up runs great otherwise.

I have a 2004 Acura TSX that appears to have the same engine, very similar at least, that does not have that tapping sound. The only obvious difference is the TSX uses 5W 30 oil, the Honda CRV uses 5W 20 oil.

What do you think?

Thank you very much. Keep up the good work I really enjoy your videos.

Check for any exhaust leaks in the engine bay. If it is the lifters, then you're going to have to replace the engine completely.

Thank you.
Too much money. Will likely run it till it dies.
What can cause something like this on something with so few miles?

Usually poor maintenance, but sometimes things just wear out prematurely due to undetected factory defects that take a while to surface. Do check for leaks at the exhaust manifold - those can sound surprisingly like mechanical engine noises.
