Hi Scotty
I have an opportunity to buy an 2006 Elantra GT for $1,000 CAD.
It belongs to an sweet 87 year old Jamaican lady who is going to stop driving. Its has 134,000 km(83,000 miles) and is very good shape. The engine compartment still looks relatively new and the AC is still blowing cold. It spent most its time in an underground garage in Toronto, Canada, with occasional drives to the grocery store.
On the road test the steering is still tight, shocks are good. No strange leaking fluids and very little rust. The body is in great shape.
Is this something worth getting. I want to use it to commute to work. (approx 60 miles total per day)
Currently I'm using a 2002 SC1 with 295,000km, which I want to retire. Had to fix many things on it but it is running good.
PS I'm very handy when it comes to fixing cars.
Thanks
Dino

If it's actually in good shape (still have a mechanic check it), what the heck $1000 CAD for a car is nothing. That's less expensive than buying a brand new Macbook. Just use it as a knock-around car and don't put a whole bunch of money into it. Go ahead.
Cheers from the Toronto area!
