Failed emission test and has codes P0420 and P0430. What can I do?(dont have cash to replace Catalytic converter. With the paint thinner video work for this
There are so many things that should be checked before getting to the conclusion of changing the cat.
As Scotty says, sometimes just changing the fuel type (go to higher octane) could solve the issue.
You should also check the O2 sensor before and after the cat. maybe you only need oxygen sensors. Also, check the back pressure (before the cat), to see if it clogged or not. You may try cleaning the cat (Scotty has a video on that). Btw, does your car burn oil?

Thanks for the reply. Bo UT doesn't burn oil. I also never used anything but 93 at the pump. I'll ask them mechanic about other suggestions.. I want to try the paint thinner video but was unsure
Try to use Nitro from Shell for next three times.

Agree it could be the O2 sensors. Replacing those "might" get you by.
