2006 Lexus GX470 bouncing rear is going to break my neck

Hey Scotty love your show!  I have notifications turned on and watch every episode that pops up even when I am doing something else and even when it doesn’t pertain to my car.

I have a 2006 GX 470 that has been amazing.  Lately the air ride sometimes works and but when it doesn’t the ride due to the rear bouncing is dangerous.  Of course I am getting conflicting opinions on this.  I am unfortunately in a position where I will have to fix it myself or live with it (which means drive it only in an emergency).  I thought I would start collecting SS retirement income when I reach 62 in a few weeks but that no longer seems likely because I won’t be “62 enough”.  Yes that is really a thing.

Any help is appreciated.  You are spot on about Lexus.  All things considered this has been the best car I have ever owned.  It  has 185,000 miles

Thanks

David Radcliff

I have a 2008 with the same miles. First off, is your compressor running for the air bags?

When you leave it sitting a while, and it may take a day or two, does the rear end sag?

If you have not replaced the air bags, they are likely leaking by now. The good news is, you can get some from trq, and likely other places for pretty cheap. I paid $200 I think and they are very easy to install. Having a friend to help will likely be necessary though.

If the air bags have been leaking a while, it could have burned out the compressor.
