2006 Mazda speed 6

My son in law ,with my financial support, had an opportunity to get a replacement vehicle and he had a hard on for a 2006 Mazda speed 6, manual transmission. After like 2 months the engine sized and he had it towed to a shop 2 hours from here in Belton Texas. It was there for a year, they replaced the engine,it didn't run right. They requested a replacement from Mazda in Japan, after the boat ride, 3 months later, that engine did not work. They tore it all apart and he picked it up and it didn't last a couple of days. It is back at the shop again, this happy horseshit been going on for a year and a half. Are all the engines in this model year pieces of shit? Thanks

Sounds like a real headache. The 6 was not known for reliability in resale - namely because people driving them tended to beat on them. They're almost non-existent on the road where I live in WNY. But the engine replacement not running seems excessive. What is happening now with it? If he picked it up, assuming it ran for a few days? If engine seized, I'd be wondering where the oil system, pan, pump, etc is in terms of wear and tear. Did they replace everything?

The replacement engines , the first was a rebuild. That crapped out on them. The next was new from Japan, but they had to scrounge around to find one there. They did reimburse the shop for their labor and parts. The issue now is has a clanking noise now, they have torn it apart and reassembled it, same issue. The guy he bought it off of must be glad he got rid of that POS when he did. I told him cut his losses and get rid of it.

I'd be thinking Lifters? Here's someone with a mazda lifter issue. it's not scotty, its his copy cat people lol. but its still decent and it might even be similar engine to 6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfSDx5Odh3o
