Are toyota yaris good cars that last like a corolla?

@specopps
its tough to say because both are almost same but i would say corolla last then Yaris.

@specopps
I had a yaris with 250 000 km's on it. It started right up and shifted like a dream! Which surproised me because the previous owner did not take good care of the car.

From my experience (not owning one buy borrowing one from a friend) they can be OK.  They won't ride or drive like a Corolla but you're also not paying as much.  If you want a smoother and possibly quieter ride, get the Corolla.  But I think a Yaris, like most vehicles, can last.  They're just a cheaper car so likely little things like interior parts may not be quite up to the same quality as what's found in the Corolla.  So little things might break sooner/faster but I think they can be decent cars for the money if all you want is very basic transportation.

If you're planning on driving a decent amount, spend the extra money and get a Corolla (much better ride quality and the overall car seems better IMO).    You'll appreciate it in the end, but again, if you just want basic transportation on the cheap, the Yaris is a viable option.  I wouldn't buy it as a family car though....

My ex is still running her 2006 Yaris. She takes it all over the state. Has not had any mechanical or electrical problems with it, other replacing the battery. Oh, and I replaced her brakes earlier this year. The biggest negative is the oem paint. Cheap job.

They are good but honesty they ride like...well not good, and for the small price difference I would get a Corolla!

Yaris is actually a Mazda and it is the cheapest Toyota model. It does not ride well and you feel all the bumps on the road.

Get a corolla and as a rule of thumb, always avoid the cheapest model for very brand.

Which model year of the Yaris are you looking at? The old Yaris was extremely reliable. The new Yaris is actually a Mazda 2 underneath.

Don’t expect any Yaris to ride as well as a Corolla.

@inthrustwetrust
I think its 2007-2013 its a hatchback it would be my first car for school and i figured it wouldn’t be the best Ride but I wanted to at least last as long as it Corolla

It’s the perfect car for school especially since you wouldn’t want to waste your $$$ over costly repairs. The 07-13 Yaris can just run and run and run and run.

Be sure to get it inspected by a mechanic before you buy it, though.

I have an 08 Yaris (5 speed) and it's extremely reliable. Best car I've ever had. If you don't mind the small size it's an excellent car, but like ^ said, get one before Mazda started making them and rebadging them as Toyotas. Get a real Toyota, made in Japan.

@rpmartin32
Then when dod Mazda start making them to avoid purchasing 1

I believe around 2014-2015.

agreed... if you're paying for the premium Toyota brand, get a car made by Toyota.  Preferably built in Canada or Japan.

i had rented a 07 yaris walking up to the car and was not imperssed. and the ride is not the best for comfort how ever looks and comfort aside i had a great time gas saver get up an go with 180k and parking was easy  if you only have two people or two plus small humans it could be a good car

I had a 2005 Scion xB which has the exact same mechanicals as the Toyota Yaris.

Car ran trouble free for 170k before I finally sold it for a bigger vehicle.

Keep your eye out for "Scion" cars as they are built by Toyota in Japan and are extremely reliable.
