:whew: Hey Scotty I have a 06 Nissan Altima 2.5 auto runs smooth engine got 172k miles runs like a clock and transmission shifts good when I drive it locally everyday, I blew already 4 transmissions on my 5th one know every time The car touches the highway and goes on a long trip the transmission just randomly goes out it blows it grinds randomly and doesn’t take reverse and grinds in first and they all done the same. Something has to be making the transmission go out on Long trips fluid is fine.

well, the 5-speed auto transmissions in the Altima of that year were weak. If it was a manual, it would be a different story.

One of the reasons Scotty always says avoid Nissan and their crappy transmissions. Are those transmissions rebuilt ones?

They are used and are good and tested I don’t think they are the transmission is a 4 speed auto not the horrible Cvt they are good trannys to begin with I don’t know why. Something is causing them to blow but only on long trips on the highway it shifts normally locally everyday is like it burns itself and damages itself on the highway

Poor design and manufacturing. As Scotty has noted, replacing a failing part with its twin isn't going to relieve substandard design and manufacturing. New is not the same as known good.

Repetition is a teacher. What have you learned about Nissan?
