2006 rav4 was the first year of the third generation of the rav4 and everyone says it has problems and that it is the rav4 from hell. Is it true that this 2006 year rav4 was bad because it was the first model year?

My friend owns a 2006 RAV4 with 65k miles, and it is having lots of engine issues because of the defect and its burning oil

Pass on any 06-08 RAV4 with the 4 cylinder. V6 should be fine but the 2.4 engines themselves were "from hell"

I also forgot to add the 2006-2008 RAV4s had steering and transmission problems as well.
Here is the owner complaint data:

Sounds like a 2006 RAV4 is as dependable as some Chrysler products

Yeah this many problems at 50 60k miles for a Toyota is dissapointing unfortunately lots of people are saying they will NEVER buy a Toyota again because of this. This was the era when Toyota was cheapening their products.
They weren't horrible I mean if the oil went low and the engine blows up then it is but its just an inconvenience to deal with all this.

It's funny how much better buit the 09-12 rav4's were over the 06-08 rav4's
