Scotty I’m thinking about getting a 2006 Toyota RAV4 automatic transmission and 4wd I’d mainly be using it for going to school and work and maybe towing my quad on weekends is it a good choice for 3500?
condition? mileage?
Be aware of oil consumption problem which was common in this era of 4 cylinder toyotas
Towing, snow, off roading, get the all wheel drive. If not, front wheel is sufficient.
The Rav4 generation starting with 2006 had a problem with a steering clunk when turning, thought to be caused by steering shaft components in the driver's compartment. I didn't have the Rav4 long enough to determine if it was a serious problem, but it certainly was annoying.
Don't forget the defective piston ring and seal design which caused excessive oil consumption and could even cause the engine to fail while in motion.
No. I have a friend who has one of those 2006 Rav4 his is 2wd and it burns oil and has defective engine at 65k miles. 2006-2008 have engine issues I would not buy one from those years. On the other hand if it is a V6 it could be ok but the 4 cylinders run away from those.
