Hey Scott,
I own an 06 tacoma prerunner 2wd with the 4.0 v6 and 5 speed auto that I've owned since new. 240k
Never wrecked, suspension and full brakes redone earlier this year. Runs great, but I'd like to know if motors and transmissions are feasible if I drive it another 14 years. Truck is solid.

Whats the best option for shops to rebuild or replace the 4.0 in the Houston to Conroe area of Texas?

Those engines can last four-five hundred thousand miles if well taken care of. If you do not have issues with it so far, keep doing what you have done so far. if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
