I have an 06 Corolla with transmission shuddering issues, it sometimes shudders at highway speeds or speeds above 40mph. When it shudders it almost feels like im riding on rumble strips and in a few minutes it’ll trip the check engine light with a P0741 code. But in city driving it drives good if I’m below 40-50, no slippage, skipping or slamming gears and rpm’s look good. I checked the condition of the fluid and it is in a brown color. What should I do? Will replacing the fluid and filter make the transmission slip? Should I leave it alone?
Thanks
Sounds like your torque converter clutch has gone funny in the head. It needs to be diagnosed by a transmission specialist with a professional-grade scan tool. Though if the trans fluid is that bad the transmission may well be on its way out.
