Hey Scotty,
I purchased a 2006 Toyota Tacoma last week for $4500. It has 80k miles, and the 5 speed manual with the 2.7 4. The truck has no rust currently and the frame has been coated. How do you think I did and any tips to extend the life so it hopefully lasts me a long time?
What do you mean by saying "How do you think I did?"
In terms of rust, never take your Tacoma in the snow, beaches, or saltwater lakes. In terms of everything else, change your oil and filter every 5,000 miles max and change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles.
I think you did great. Where I live, '06 Tacomas are going for about $12K. Read the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual, use the correct weight engine, transmission, and differential oils. Lube the zerk fittings, especially on the drive shaft. Replace the pcv valve at each oil change, etc. Take care of it and it'll take care of you. I am still driving my '81 22R 4x4.
Awesome thanks
That's a great price, almost too good to be true, I'd be a little nervous about the history
Thats what I was thinking, but the VIN was very clean. I purchased it from a mechanic and it was his fathers and he was too old to drive he was turning 97 or so.
