2007 Chevrolet Impala Whining

Hello, Scotty!

I have a 2007 Chevrolet Impala LT at 282,000 km on automatic transmission. It whines whenever you turn it on but as you take it a long drive, the whining sound fades. Whenever I step on the gas, I can feel it vibrates a little bit even after the whining fades. This started when extreme cold weather came in midwest Canada on December 2020 even though I plugged in my block heater cord. I changed the battery on last week of February 2021 after the extreme cold ended. Any thoughts what would be the problem in my car before going off to the mechanic? Thank you so much for the answer, Scotty!

it could be a lot of things. Power steering pumps whine when they wear out. The vibration could be a worn transmission. The odometer is getting up there and I'd say your Imp is doing great to even last this long.
