2007 Dodge Caravan 247k miles automatic
3.3 engine
Hi. Just bought this for about 1700. Engine has 0 blow by. Trans fluid is nice red color on dipstick. Shifts good.
Seems was maybe used for taxi type work. As I see old airport stickers on the back. But not sure.
Have you ever heard of original transmissions on these lasting over 250k miles. I can't find any history on carfax of transmission being serviced at all. Not even a fluid change.
Do these engines need the timing chain replaced at this high of miles?
Runs good with not even a engine light.
What typically causes these transmissions to go out. I hear they suck on the Caravan. Should I change the fluid often.
Well, I've never seen a caravan transmission last that long. So I assume it's been replaced or repaired in the past. And you kind of had a quandary. With that mileage. The fluid could be really dirty but if you do change it and it hasn't been changed much it might slip and not run at all. Let's just say you bought it for a very small price. Change the oil regularly and take care of it and pray.
