Good Day,
have a 2007 Chev Equinox FWD with a 3.4L with 231,000 KM (144,000 Miles). I understand the head gaskets are bad on these 3.4L.
We are the original owners and drove it with care, wondering besides changing the engine oil and coolant per maintenance schedule.
What else can I do to protect the head gasket from failing?
Thanks again yous are AWESOME!!
Head gaskets can fail - among other reasons - from overheating. Make sure you always keep an eye on the temp gauge and never get close or let the engine overheat.
Hey! It's my namesake! The 'ol GM 3.4...
Easiest way to keep the head gasket? Don't turn it on 🤣
In all seriousness, our Aztek with the 3.4 hasn't blown it yet, because we change the oil a ton and take it easy. Just change the oil and don't drive crazy and even a Chrysler can last you a long time. The Equinoxes were absolutely terrible however. I hate it when people tell me things like that about my cars, but I'm sorry. Those are complete throw-away cars. I hope it lasts you!
