2007 GMC CANYON occasionally will crank but not fire. Almost seems like it is not getting any gas. I have Googled this issue and it seems like many owners are having or have had similar issues and they claim it has something to do with the pass key function. I have taken my truck to the dealer 3 times to resolve this issue but this problem has not occurred while the dealer is servicing my truck so they tell me they do not know what to fix. Any ideas as to how I resolve this problem. My truck will start 20 or more times without any issue and then without warning it will not start. No rhyme or reason as to why this happens. Thanking you in advance for your guidance.
Welcome to the forum!
Crank/no-start (especially intermittent) is one of the tougher problems to diagnose due to the sheer number of potential causes. Could be literally hundreds of things from the fuel pump to the ECU.
Unless you have one of Scotty’s “fancy scan tools” and know how to use it, you’re gonna need to take it to an experienced independent mechanic. Don’t waste any more time with the dealer; in my experience, most (though not all) dealer shops just replace one expensive part after another in hopes they’ll hit the one causing the problem. You need a mechanic who knows how to THINK and reason independently, and most people like that have their own shops.
Good luck.
Have you had it scanned for any stored codes that might point you in the right direction. Dealers magically become deaf and dumb when it comes to warranty work. They probably just parked your truck and never even looked at.
