Nav screen goes blank

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2007 Honda Accord EX  Sedan 4 cyl with a touch screen NAV UNIT/HVAC monitor ( info, audio, AC buttons on RH side of screen/stereo  controls LH side/Nav controls on bottom of screen) along with the 6 cd changer stereo. The car is a 5 spd manual, with approx. 99,000 miles. There are no OBDII codes showing.

The screen does glow, showing it is on, but only works intermittently, showing all touch screen options. Then, after the car is turned off, remains blank. I have checked the fuses ( unit would not work at all if fuses were shot). The HVAC controls and GPS/NAV controls only work by using the touch screen. All the button functions on sides and below of the screen do not function when the monitor is not working. Strangely enough, the " voice command button on the steering wheel, which can be used to alternatively control HVAC, does not work either when the monitor is off, but works when the monitor does.

I have tried to get help through the local Honda dealerships, and also directly through the Honda head office, to no avail. They do have a service bulletin ( 06-001, dated 2013+2019) which is related to generic nav unit repair, but according to my local HONDA dealer, is not really applicable. They also they would have to blindly diagnose at a min 3-6 hours@$175.00 per hour. Same for a local car shop specializing in electronic diagnosis.

I am hoping that perhaps you have heard of this problem ,and have an easier way to diagnose and fix it.

Well sadly the only way I've ever seen that fix was by having a whole unit itself replaced screen and all
