Bought a 2007 honda fit automatic transmission with 211k kms from a private sale. It seems that it jerks when shifting gears. Any recommendation what i should do. Car runs and drives good except that jerking problem everytime it shift gears. Thank you in advance. I live in canada

You getting any codes?

Ok, so you learned a valuable lesson, always have a mechanic check any car over before you buy it. Now do you know if the transmission has ever been serviced? If not then you need to have it done, just change the fluid in the pan, and install a new filter. Some places will try and talk you into a tranny flush, specify NO Flush. While the pan is off, if there is a ton of junk in the bottom of the pan that means the transmission is having problems. If it’s put back together and still not shifting correctly, You can try some Lucas transmission fix ,  In Hondas I don’t normally recommend using it, but you can put in half a bottle see if it helps any.

He told me that transmission fluid has been change and service before they parked it for couple of months. It has trailer hitch so i know they used it for towing or hauling. I taught it is normal that it jerks in shifting gears i didn't hear any grinding noise or slipping i read some reviews about honda fit before i bought it. It runs good it so happen that it has a mild jerking from 1st to 3rd gear. I'll try to do your recommendation. Thank you.

I usually don't take people for their word, especially if their selling me a car. if your fluid isn't nice and clear, change it and clean the pan.

I agree with @Thumpy. haven’t you noticed it when you test drove?
