Hi,

I have a 2007 Lexus ES350 with 48000 miles. Original engine. I was driving with the windows down today and noticed that the car was running abnormally loud and hear an almost high-pitched rubbing sound if I could best describe it. I don't believe this would be normal for the car. Could this be a bad belt or a sign of some other problem with the engine or something else? Temperature outside was in the 50s today so it isn't from being cold. Car performs pretty much normal and don't have any check engine lights.

Only thing I did recently was change the oil and filter about 100 miles ago. Filled to ~6.4 quarts (to spec) with Mobil 1 Extended Performance synthetic 5W-30 and XG9972 filter, and the oil level on the dipstick is showing apparently correct. Previously had 5W-30 dino oil from the dealership.

Thank you in advance.

Sounds like a bearing to one of your serpentine belt-driven devices is failing.

Those devices include alternator, AC compressor, water pump, idle pulley, tensioner pulley.

Remove the serpentine belt and see if the noise goes away or not. Also, check all the pulleys.
